The style and culture of the vans shoes does not date. It improves with time. While vans are still trying to advance on near perfection they do this by listening and trusting the people who they are building the shoes for, the ones who Vans culture define, the people who live for experience and satisfaction …….
Vans footwear came from a simplistic idea where Paul Van Doren along with his partners Jim Van Doren, Gordy Lee and Serge D'Elia believed in making well designed footwear and selling them in their own store without having to use any other form of middle man. This is where it all started in 1966 in Anaheim, California and became what we know today as one the most well known skate and lifestyle shoe companies to date.
The Vans footwear collection now has over 60 styles ranging from the classic deck shoes and slip-ons to high performance skateboard shoes, snowboard boots, sandals and ballet style shoes.
The first Vans old skool shoes first were designed with a diamond pattern in the sole across the entire bottom of the shoe. Vertical lines were then later added to make it stronger shoe, a design which is now vans proprietary waffle sole
The unique style of using the waffle sole aids the skater too be at one with the board. This year Vans feel that they ‘are a little closer to skateboarding shoe perfection.’ With advanced construction to the way that they have redesigned the sole, keeping the principle of the waffle design but making it thinner and with more cushioning materials sporting a padded collar.
