Tom Ford

Born in 1961 in Texas, USA, Tom Ford is an iconic fashion designer who has had a huge influence on the output and creative output of several leading fashion labels.

Tom Ford's first break in the fashion world came when he went to work for Lengendary Italian fashion house Gucci in 1990 to head up the labels ready to wear fashion collection for women. By 1994 Ford's work was so impressive that he was appointed creative director of Gucci, effectively putting him in charge of the worlds most prestigious fashion brand.

Ford turned round Gucci's forrtunes during his time at the helm and between 1995 and 1996 he created a 90% increase in sales and turnover for the company. Upon Gucci purchasing the YSL brand, Ford was also appointed creative director for both labels. Ford left Gucci in 2004 due to a fallout in moving the brand forward and at the time of his departure he had increased Gucci's value to $10 billion.

In 2005 he created his own label Tom Ford which produced designer menswear and womenswear. During the same year he teamed up with Italian fashion house Marcolin to create and produce the Tom Ford Sunglasses and eyewear ranges.
