Sperry Top-Sider has an illustrious history and the company was first formed in 1935 by its original owner Paul Sperry in Lexington, USA. The brand was formed as Sperry was a huge boating enthusiast and was always wary of the chance of slipping on deck.

He noticed that his pet Spaniel dog was always stable no matter the weather and water conditions so decided to replicate the grooves on his dog paws into rubber and eventually into rubber soles for footwear.

The product was hugely succesful in both its application and its sales, and its all white colour was popular with those who didnt want to leave marks on their boat decks. The design was so popular that the US Navy themselves negotiated the right to reproduce the shoes for all of its sailors.

Today Sperry is as popular amongst sailors as it is withing the designer menswear sector and here at Choice we sell a large range of their boat shoes.
