Paul Smith

Paul Smith is perhaps Britains most famous and succesful fashion designer with a long and prestigious career. Born in Nottingham in 1946, he became interested in fashion after spending time with fashion students from the local universities. He began producing his own fashion collection and in 1970 opened up his first shop in Nottingham city centre.

By 1976 he was putting on fashion shows in Paris and Milan underneath his Paul Smith label banner and he had become so popular by the end of the decade that he opened his second shop in London's highly trendy covent garden.

Smith's collections became very popular internationally particularly in Japan where he launched the Paul Smith Red Ear collection to appeal to their tastes and style requirements, and by 1998 Smith had launched his first Ladies wear collection that is still very sought after today.

The fashion house is now very large and produced several different ranges including Red Ear, P.S, London, Jeans, Footwear and Paul Smith Accessories alongside a large fragrances collection.
