The New Era Cap Company has a long and established history having first been formed in 1920 in Buffalo, New York by a German immigrant Ehrhardt Koch. Originally formed to make fashion headwear, the company changed direction in the 1930's deciding to make baseball caps to cash in on the nations huge obsession with the sport of baseball.

They started supplying baseball teams such as the Cleveland Indians and New York Yankess, and from this endorsement many minor league teams, schools and amateur teams started buying their products opening them up to a huge new market.

By the 1990's New Era became the official supplier to Major league baseball, providing all the caps and replica caps for all the teams and to retail outlets which was a massive boost to the company.
