DKNY
The DKNY abbreviation takes its name from Donna Karan New York, taking its name from the designer and the city the company was formed in. Karan formed the company back in 1989. Karan herself was born in 1948 and took her influences from her father who was a tailor by trade. The DKNY label was formed alongside her husband of the time Stephen Weiss.
The label was a huge success internationally with flagship stores around the world including New York, London, Hing Kong and Shanghai. The label was bought outright in 1997 LVMH, who own Louis Vuitton and Moet Hennessey.
